December is the first month of winter in the northern half of the world. One of December's birth flowers is the holly. December is the twelfth and last month in the Gregorian calendar and has 31 day.
The name comes from a time when the rich used to box up gifts to give to the poor. Boxing Day was traditionally a day off for servants, and the day when they received a special Christmas box from their masters.
Popular customs include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive.
