Creating Safer Spaces with a Simple Switch to Your Email Signature

Adding preferred pronouns to email signatures is becoming more common in professional settings. Sharing your pronouns normalizes the practice of not assuming them, and by adopting this practice, we create safer spaces for transgender and non-binary individuals where they are not singled out as the only people sharing pronouns. Start today by making this switch towards a more inclusive community!

Shelley’s Corner - Taking the Initiative

One of the most frequently received feedback our practicum students receive, is to start "taking initiative" more. What kinds of responsibilities are you being asked to do?  Start doing them without needing to be asked!  Look for tasks that need doing and ask if it's something you could help with, or dive in and do it. Practicum hosts are more likely to hire a student when they can see what kind of an employee they'll be, show them you're someone who jumps in and lends a hand!
