Choosing where you go to college is an important decision an individual makes. An admissions director helps new students get enrolled in their desired program. We got to interview Ritu B. a driven assistant director of admissions at our Burnaby campus.
Ritu learned about the position at Vancouver Career College through a mutual friend that was already working there. She has since worked at Vancouver Career College for over nine years. Prior to being a part of Vancouver Career College, Ritu was involved in managing private education in India for over 15 years. She also carries 30 years of experience working with students. Additionally, Ritu has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's degree in marketing.
She realized that she was passionate about getting to work with students in one-on-one settings, and enjoys supporting students whenever she can.
Ritu shares her story about moving to Canada from India in 2001 to provide a better life for her son. Once in Canada, Ritu struggled to find employment, so she returned to India after four months. Her determination to live in Canada led her to return years later in 2003, this time with the goal of becoming an accountant in Canada.
Outside of the work place, Ritu is passionate about working with new immigrants. She volunteers to help new immigrants settle down in Canada. This includes serving vulnerable people in vulnerable conditions.
Rewarding Aspects of the Role
One of the most rewarding aspects of Ritu's role as an Assistant Director of Admissions is working one-on-one with students and enabling them to believe in themselves. Another fond memory is watching students successfully graduate
In regards to her plans for the future, Ritu simply says “Every day and every hour is different. As long as I can continue to do what I love doing, I’ll keep doing it.”
What do you like about working at Vancouver Career College?
Ritu shared that she appreciated the large support network that the workplace at Vancouver Career College facilitated. "I don't feel the need to look for a new job. This is a stress-free work environment,” says Ritu.

Ritu loves to work out seven days a week in the morning and evening. In addition, she likes to cook and use physical activity to unwind from a workday.
