Can’t Think of What to Do This Winter? Check Out Some of These Family Favourites!

Monday, December 8, 2014

Vancouver is packed with fun winter activities. From Christmas light shows to gondola rides to tobogganing, there’s something for everyone!

Snowshoeing on the Mountains

Skiing is great but why brisk past the beautiful scenery? Strap on some snow shoes and take a walk on the crisp snow on the mountains while enjoying the beautiful landscape. This family-friendly activity is available at Whistler, Seymour, Grouse, and Cypress. With the exception of Mount Cypress, the other three locations offer novice to advanced classes with Cypress only offering advanced ones. For infant-friendly options, sleigh rides are also available at select locations.

Vancouver Christmas Market

Need to do some Christmas shopping? Or are you just looking for a treat? Hosting its fifth annual bazaar, the Vancouver Christmas Market will be open from November 22 to December 24, 2014 and host over 50 vendors. One admissions ticket will get you unlimited entry until Christmas Eve! Check their website to find out more.

Granville Island Public Market & Kids Market

Located within a few minutes by foot of each other, the Public Market and Kids Market on the island offer great adult and child-friendly options. Take a trip by car, bus, or boat and check out some of the delectable treats. Fresh pasta, produce, coffee, candy, spices, and seafood are only a small handful of what they have to offer. Kids can work off their bellies full of scrumptious treats at the indoor playground at the Kids Market or explore the walls of toys in the shops.

Bright Nights Christmas Train at Stanley Park

Ride the miniature train at Stanley Park and experience the mesmerizing enchantment of three million Christmas lights twinkling in the darkness. The Bright Nights Christmas Train will run from November 27, 2014 to January 4, 2015. Train rides are available for a monetary donation of choice and partial proceeds will go to the BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund, which helps burn survivors and their families.
