Networking event recognizes local companies that hire Vancouver Career College grads
Surrey, BC – May 20, 2014 – Vancouver Career College hosted an employer appreciation night at its Surrey campus on May 15, 2014. Organized by the Career Services department, the event brought together representatives from a number of local companies that sponsor Vancouver Career College practicum students and hire graduates.
“One of the reasons Vancouver Career College students are successful is the support that comes from local employers,” said Larry Heinzlmeir, vice president of Marketing. “Whether, they’re hosting practicum placements or looking to hire, we appreciate the role each one of these companies plays in the career development of our students.”
The event also highlighted how employers contribute to Vancouver Career College’s success. Last year, the Surrey campus achieved a 96.5% graduate employment rate thanks in part to local employers who hired its grads. Each year, employers also contribute to program development, identifying the skill sets they look for when hiring and advising on learning outcomes for graduates. They also provide input for program reviews and about curriculum updates.
Approximately 40 companies were represented at the event, showcasing the diverse career training programs offered at the campus. Companies in attendance have hosted students or hired grads from many Vancouver Career College programs, including Accounting and Payroll Administration, Addictions and Community Services Worker, Business Administration Management, Construction Electrician Foundation, Early Childhood Education, Health Care Assistant, Human Resources Professional, Medical Office Assistant and Pharmacy Assistant. Guests had a chance to catch up with campus staff and network with other professionals from a range of industries.
