Job prospects are looking bright for paralegals and legal administrative assistants across various regions of Canada, according to new data released by leading staffing firm Robert Half Legal. The company's Hiring Index compiled information from 200 interviews with lawyers from firms of different sizes, and demonstrated that nearly half of those surveyed plan to hire full-time staff during the third quarter of 2012.
Even better, 91 percent of lawyers shared that they are confident in their organizations' prospects for growth during this period, a three-percent increase from the previous survey. Of the positions most likely to see movement, paralegals and legal administrative assistants made the top of the list, particularly among practice areas including corporate law, litigation and intellectual property.
A majority of lawyers also revealed that they find it challenging at times to locate the right talent, meaning that those who are pursuing paralegal or legal secretary careers should increase their efforts during the job search. By making themselves more public to employers, whether by boosting their professional web presence or reaching out to faculty and classmates in legal program courses, students may have a better chance of landing that initial career opportunity.
Students who are interested in pursuing one of these promising careers can enroll in paralegal courses at Vancouver Career College. For more information, fill out the form on the right.
