This letter is to express my gratification and success story about my experience at Vancouver Career College. It changed my life in a tremendously positive way. I can still recall the day I first entered the Vancouver Career College Burnaby Campus; eager but also worried, and uncertain about what I was getting into. I was unsure about whether or not I was prepared for this program. I was then working part-time at Subway. With mediocre earnings, my husband had to help me pay for my studies. I am very thankful to him. The other person I am eternally grateful to is Pamela Lafleur, my instructor. She is the individual who counseled me about the program and my goals. She was very knowledgeable and was a very prime example of an excellent teacher. She nurtured my learning, always encouraging me, supporting me, and giving me extra help and attention with my school work even after class was over. Every individual has at least one teacher in his or her life that, not only helps with achieving life goals, but also leaves a remarkable influence on them. This was Pamela Lafleur for me. Now, after graduating, I am very happy to be working under the Fraser Health Authority in a temporary full-time position as a Mental Health and Addictions Rehabilitation Worker. Thank you for all your support, during and after the program, in helping me succeed.

I would like to start by talking about the benefits of attending Vancouver Career College. The faculty at this particular facility is second to none with giving every amenity possible to ensure student success. Throughout the duration of my term I spent at the facility I Was always able to slot extra time in with the great teachers available to meet me at any time throughout the day, regardless of their commitment to a full course teaching load of other cohorts. With the smaller class sizes it allows students to receive more one on one support from the teacher rather than just being another number in a classroom full of confused and uncertain individuals. Some programs are very academically demanding to say the least and I am happy to look back and be able to say that I had all the support necessary to be successful. There were times that I would spend fifteen hours a day studying the material for my program twelve of which were at the college, they were always open early and had staff on hand to assist me with whatever I needed. I had previously taken the same program at a different institution who, for legal reasons, I will not mention their name, and I Can say definitely that I did not have the tools for success nor the personalized support system that Vancouver Career College has developed for their students. Apart from the solid resources available to students there is also an important factor often overlooked at government facilities and that is a personal life coach to give moral support based on a lifetime of experience of helping people reach their goals and dreams. This man gave me the greatest emotional support and advice I could ever have asked for, without him coaching me towards success I may not be where I am today making a great wage in an amazing learning atmosphere working with people that have some of the same career focused goals as myself. I cannot be more grateful of where I am in my life at this point in time and my hard work aside I owe it to Dino Cabalfin and the staff at Vancouver Career College. Thank you.

Not only is every member of the staff friendly and approachable, I could not be more grateful for the education I got at Vancouver Career College. I was so nervous when I first started my practicum, but it took less than a week for me to realize just how well prepared I was. The terminology used on the job is the same as I was taught in school, and I use the skills I learned every day at work. I am still on practicum but my supervisor wants me to on the schedule and picking up shifts as soon as possible. Thanks Vancouver Career College!

I have had an immense curiosity in art and design since I was a child and have grown surrounded by a creative family from which my abilities emanate. I remember as a child drawing floor plans for houses as well as having Architectural Digest at nine years old. Always having an appreciation for functional design where everything was purposely placed in a page layout and had a function in our everyday living, with a minimal impact on our Earth while in production of the design, and once the project was absolute. I vew the art of photography as a visual spectrum, an extract of the truth in an individual exposure. I utilize my photography to document my personal experiences and to share with the world my ability to capture our diverse land and cultures. I have been a visual artist for years and found that I could capture my imagination through painting, sculpting, drawing and writing. However, I never found a medium that could truly capture life experience until I received my first camera. I have sculpted my individual style through life experience as well as my ability to see magnificence in everything that surrounds me. Being a graphic design student has taught me to design with my photography and generate excellence in text, graphics and layout. I am a simplistic designer and enjoy clean design. It has also allowed me to achieve the practical aptitude in order to run my photography business effectively as well as include a design element to my art. It is an ideal combination as this medium allows me to take pleasure in my skill and positively evaluate my creation. Computer Graphic Design has directed me to my true purpose of life as a designed and photographer. It allows you to think outside the box and gives you the opportunity to be an ethical designer. My life goal is to share with my clients the true meaning of design, to speak a thousand words through photography, and to go down in history as a well-respected designer, flourishing photographer and gallery artist.

To be perfectly honest, I had never saw myself going into health care. As a young adult I had many dreams such as being a flight attendant and travelling the world. Another career that I had in mind was to be a counselor. I had always told myself, friends and family that I would have a career and a Bachelors degree in social work. In fact, it was not until April of 2010 that I started to really look at my options of going back to school. I am 28 years old and currently an bankrupt due to a bad business deal in my early twenties. I walked into the YWCA one afternoon and told them my scenario. A counselor by the name of Keith suggested the HCA-CHC program. After some thought and being accepted for funding through Bowman I enrolled into the program at Vancouver Career College. I really felt that health care was the answer to a financially stable future. Not only was there the financial job security aspect of things I absolutely loved the course. The CHC course at Vancouver Career College was amazing. I really found myself in the last year and have grown and matured so much. It is an incredible feeling to help others and to know that I can be truly successful in a career I never thought I would be good at. At the moment I am currently hired at the Avonlea which is a Care Center for brain injured people. Although it can be very challenging I love what I do and everything that has to do with Healthcare. My goal is to further my education within the Healthcare field and feel that the PN course will help me along my way. I have the support from my family and boyfriend that will help me succeed in my career choice. Overall the PN course is a stepping stone on my new educated journey and am extremely excited to do it right here at Vancouver Career College

My instructor: Recognizes his responsibility to educate us so we can be successful out in the field. He provides individual help, and genuinely cares about his students. He is a team work and has the ability to recognize our weaknesses and strengths. He is always looking to add more to the arsenal. The fact how the theory is applied into practical as we learn works like lego blocks - very helpful, knowing the building blocks, and apply it directly into lab. Campus is spectacular, fun learning experience and very creative. I have become more aware of my surroundings from learning what a safe working environment should be like, and being responsible. Electricity is dangerous - safety always comes first. I could not have put it better myself - Vancouver Career College is awesome.

If it was not for awesome instructors at Vancouver Career College, I do not know how I would be able to make it this far. I like the friendly environment and smiles. Everyone looks out for each other here (no one gets left behind). Improve speed in lab by learning from mistakes. Smaller classes = more time to achieve help when you need it. The campus is fun. It is easy to communicate with people and even easier to get to school. I am lucky to be a student here.

My instructor is teaching me things that I did not know until now, he emphasizes on being professional at all times to prepare us when we work after the program, and he is a great person to be with and a great teacher. Our labs have computers, which is cool, and if you want something printed, you can just ask the instructor and he can and will do it for you. Campus has been great! I am not only learning from my instructor, but also from my classmates and from the iPads as well. What a great school. This will definitely help me when I start working for a job.

One thing that is innovative about class is the positive and professional attitudes in both peers and professors. It is cool that everyone has the same goal, to learn and achieve as both individuals and as a group. We help one another and get personal goals. I have had 4 instructors in total for different courses. I ahve been encouraged by all letting me know yes I can. I am motivated daily to give it 100% in what I do so I can succeed. They (Keith and Lindey) have been a great role model for me in positive attitudes, good choices and a caring approach to my career. I find my classrooms are like an idea factory, designed thinking is applied to my learning. Each module is taught and discussed in an understanding way and can relate lots of class discussions covering topics. From walking through the door on day 1 I was explained to and had all the tools I needed. Staff and teachers made me feel at home and part of the family here. Students in my class were welcoming and just as eager as me. I feel confident I am going to achieve a lot. I feel cared for here at Vancouver Career College from students and staff. I challenege my students and show them that they are better than they think and this gets them excited. The smiles on their faces when they get a good grade is very rewarding for me and them. I studied voice and music theater for about 10 years when I Was younger and did a fair amount of performing. I began working with children as a music teacher and then trained as a Montessori preschool teacher. After working for 10 years, I took training to teach a Montessori Elementary Classroom What inspired me to pursue a teaching career in this discipline was my friends who had begun teaching E.C.E at Vancouver Career College. They encouraged me to get involved. I inspire my students by trying different methods of teaching and getting them involved in hands-on learning. I also share my own experiences and what I have learned. I helped them to realize how much they will be helping young children and how valuable their vocation is. I am impressed with how hard-working my fellow instructors are and how much they care. It has been an inspiration to me.

I would say my instructor is the best teacher I have ever had in my life. Her teaching style beats all other ones that I have experienced and it gave me a whole new outlook in my professional and personal life. She has so much important information and I am willing to take it all in a positive way. She has made me the best at what I Am doing and I Am very grateful for that. The lab is so realistic with all the furniture and medical tools. Instead of just reading what to do in books, hands-on training helps get a better understanding for when you step into the real environment. My overall experience has been excellent. My instructor makes a difference in my education by motivating me and encouraging me to do better every day, by showing her life experiences and how she did it and what makes her who she is today. Through all these I strive to work harder than ever, sealing her as my role model. The lab helped me have better understanding like not just reading the books but doing it practically - putting the experience I really like knowing what to expect when I get out there. My overall experience on campus was very good. I have better understanding in life than I did before. Because of her I am fully prepared to reach all my goals and give 110% in everything I do. Coming into this courage I Was excited and eager and now I am even more eager to enter the workforce with the knowledge I have been taught. She is a great motivator though she is really strict but thats how I get motivated. I didnt take it personally but instead it is a great help for me to strive and be more focused on my studies. The laboratories as I have seen it is very helpful and I think all the things that we needed for us to learn are there, to help us understand better the material. I am enjoying the campus so much! My instructor has taught me many things like being strong and not giving up cause I know I can do this. Even though I have found this course difficult but as an individual when I finish I will still have a smile on my face. My teacher has taught me a lot. Our instructors always had new ideas and methods either about your life or school in general. She always wrote on the board to be more clear and understanding which I like cause it was very helpful to me. My experience at VCC has been a lot of fun. I have met a lot of new people. Everyone was friendly and showed me around when I was lost some days. Instructors were all amazing without them I would not be here today, especially with all the help that is given. There are pictures and calendars to make sure we know whats going on, as well as a lot of different learning strategies, making the school feel innovative. Overall, Vancouver Community College is very welcoming and warm, very informative before you start course. I liked the student success strategies work shop at the beginning. Our instructor believes in her students and pushes us to be the best we can be. She is practical and theoretical and makes us feel comfortable by being personal yet at the same time professional through our daily check ins. She has taught me to think critically and analytically. She provides tools to help focus our learning goals. Field trips, special projects, hands on training such as role playing and guest speakers have been very helpful in my learning process. My instructor Alana is a great teacher. She is really hands on and always makes sure we fully understand what we are learning. She is very knowledgeable about her field and has taught me how to think critically with an open mind and while not forgetting the importance of experimental learning. She genuinely cares about everyone of her students and wants us all to do our best. She is always there to help at anytime even if its not during school hours. I really enjoy the size of the classrooms because it allows for interaction, bonding and forging close relationships. My instructor Alana really makes role playing interesting and has given me the confidence to prepare me to work hands on with clients. I have had a really good overall experience on campus. The staff and students are all friendly and helpful. Everyone wants you to succeed. I like that Alana has worked as a Social Worker and has real life experience that we can learn from and prepare us for our future. I also really appreciate how Alana has been flexible with my work schedule and understanding when my daughter needed me. Without having such an understanding teacher I would have never been able to successfully be in school.

Because of her experience in this field, I have enjoyed many stimulating discussion in the classroom. I am always encouraged to keep coming and to further my education. I have enjoyed working with the iPads. It is important to keep up with the rapidly evolving world of technology in the school/workplace. I feel very lucky to have nice and helpful classmates. There really is a sense of comradery. The health environment in Alanas classroom is conducive to learning. Before learning from my instructor Alana, I had not been confident in my studies. Now I am. My instructor always encourages and challenges me to keep moving forward and being confident. I appreciate this. She helps me to improve my writing skills and provides valuable feedback from different angles and perspectives. I am new to this country and my instructor has been hospitable during my whole school time. My instructor comforts at stressful times, with understanding and a warm heart. As an immigrant, almost everything is new for me, so I really enjoy it. Classroom activities and hands-on training is really helpful and useful. I especially enjoyed field trips and special projects related to the addiction and social work. I find school very exciting and challenging, though stressful at times too. But my instructor (Alana) always helps me see the light at the end of the tunnel. My campus life is bitter sweet, good and stressful at times due to my language barrier. Tania, my instructor, is amazing. Her positive energy is infectious and her happy outlook is refreshing. She makes this class. Tania is a valuable asset to this campus. She delivers course material in a easy to understand and fun way. My experience here would be boring and tedious with out her bubbly energy and enthusiasm. This classroom is a really friendly environment, where everyone can feel safe and able to voice questions and comments freely and without judgement. The family feeling encourages open learning and is such a comfortable setting I want to attend. I love the family feeling of my classroom. I love my instructor, her real life anecdotes make course material much more relate-able. Everyone here is super friendly but I am convinced I have the BEST instructor. I also love how much we use the large wall monitor and you tube to find real life examples of diseases and conditions. In summary - the good: Tania is freaking awesome. The iPads are cool and fun. There is no wait to get into school. It is a fun place to attend, and the courses are short.

I have worked in the Social Services field as a support worker, poverty law and youth and faculty work and advocacy, among other things, for approximately 8 years. I was inspired because as a social worker/counselor, you are teaching and mentoring and helping people find their strengths and succeed in life despite its challenges. I also personally enjoyed learning and using my critical thinking skills, being a motivator and a leader. I inspire my students by focusing on their strengths and motivating them to see themselves this way. My teaching style is to be as approachable as possible. Having a good connection with students and passing on positive attitudes about learning is important. What is innovative about our labs and classrooms is the flexibility and intimacy. Also, tailoring to my needs and other related personal touches. All of these factors and more make it different than any other campus. Overall, Vancouver Career College is a warm, welcoming and helpful place. All staff have gone above and beyond to be helpful with helping set me up.

I love that there are always fresh and current ideas/ teaching methods that are related to todays ECE students. Also that we are introduced to new ideas and methods to succeed in the future. There are also hands on activities we do in the classroom, decorate boards, circle time - it really is a blast! My instructor makes the program very enjoyable, there are a lot of activities that are hands on and allow me to explore my creativity. The activities that my instructor does are all very relate-able to the field and helped me prepare myself for when I enter the field. There are always past projects that are displayed in the classroom which shows the hard work and dedication that the students have put in. There are 3 cupboards full of art materials and ECE related materials for students to access which is extremely convenient. This is such an exciting program to be in. Having gone to university for 5 years, I was hesitant about going back to school for more studying but this has proven to be such a pleasurable experience. The staff and students are all so friendly and helpful and everyone makes you feel welcome. Having to do circle time in front of the class was probably the most nerve-wracking experience for me. It made me step out of my comfort zone and now I am very well-prepared for when I had to do circle time for my practicum.

My instructor has helped make a difference in my education by providing positive feedback and encouragement. My teacher is supportive and understanding of lifes circumstances while making it possible to still accomplish everything and be successful. The classrooms are very interactive and provide an environment to work individually too. We have simulated programs of what we will encounter in the professional world. Vancouver Career College has been a positive experience overall. The building structure is quaint and comfortable to be in. All staff is incredibly friendly and approachable and helpful.

What I liked the most about my program was building something and enjoying the success of seeing my work actually function. This is why I am devoting my career as a Construction Electrician. I have a few courses on electricity but otherwise I am a stranger to the trade. It made the program challenging sometimes. The school, however, has guided me from work safety to reading blueprints, from analyzing circuits to assembling electrical components in the lab. The school provides classrooms and lab training to help me with knowledge that I need to be an electrician. Now I have the knowledge and skills that the industry needs, and I am looking forward to entering the trade.

My instructor is very knowledgeable and motivates me to do better everyday. His lectures are interesting and keeps me listening! I would have to say out of all the instructors who have ever taught me, my instructors at Vancouver Career College has taught me the most. I really enjoy the fact that we use Ipads as opposed to textbooks. It is easy, more useful and very fun to use. Overall, the staff are incredible, always friendly, and smiling. They always answer my questions without me having to wait a long period of time for an answer. I have never had a bad experience at this school.

Vancouver Career College turned my life around. At 40 years old I found myself bouncing from job to job with no real steadfast qualifications behind me. Tired of low to average income and often being without work, I turned to Vancouver Career College to start my career life all over again. It had been more than 20 years since I last opened a text book. I was terrified at the thought of trying to study again and had hundreds of excuses as to why I thought I could not or would not be able to, but thanks to Vancouver Career Colleges fabulous support and encouragement, I was even able to get the necessary upgrades within weeks before commencing my course in Practical Nursing. I remember walking into Vancouver Career College with low self-esteem and very little confidence. A little over a year later I graduated not only with Honours but as the Valedictorian of the Nursing Program 2012. I have held a casual position at Kelowna General Hospital as a surgical nurse since the day I completed my preceptorship, earning a great salary. Now I have confidence in myself and finally financial security, it feels great! I am proud of the new goals I have achieved in my life, thanks to Vancouver Career College - they offered me the opportunity to start my career life again. It is never too late to start over!

The instruction and practical training provided by the caring instructors at Vancouver Career College made it easy for me to fit in during my practicum placement. While there was no position for me at the practicum hosts pharmacy, I earned a recommendation for another job. I was working withing 2 weeks of completing my course. After my first day of work I arrived home to see 3 other pharmacies requesting me to come in for interviews. Employers want qualified employees. All I knew was that I Wanted to make money and did not for a second feel like it mattered what I did as long as it was a job that payed well. This is what I have learned. You should always do what you want to do an when you love what you do you will be successful. This was the main reason I decided to reinvent myself armed with a new diploma from Vancouver Career College. I have always been an artist and have always had love for technology and computers and saw a great opportunity to take an accelerated diploma in graphic design that fit my new career path. After the great knowledge I Was given, I looked for my first job in the industry in which I trained. After a few interviews and a few life changing decisions i came across a company that was just purchased by a larger firm and placed my resume in along with 700 other applicants. As it turned out they picked me with my Career College credentials and I have been here ever since. Loving the choices I made and ascertaining the skills I needed has made me a smarter, more eager and confident person. Thanks Vancouver Career College!

With my his expertise, my instructor has taught me so much more than I could learn by reading a textbook. His genuine interest in my success is much appreciated. With the use of computers, slideshows, and our Ipads, the entire school experience is very interactive. It makes learning easy and accessible. Overall, the campus is great. I love being downtown and love our classroom. Having a small number of students is great, you feel looked after and that each student matters. I have learned so much more being in a small group than in a giant university lecture hall.

She was there to help us study, and that made us good students and graduate from this course. Our classroom had big spaces and tables to work with, and were spacious. The labs had almost everything that we needed to practice compounding and helped us to be familiar with the drugs. Overall, everything was good. Everyone shares their experiences, thoughts, familiarities and skills which helped everyone learn more. I loved the hands-on equipment that was made available to us students. It really puts together theory with clinical practice. I have loved my overall experience on campus! Overall, I could not have picked a better college. I believe I have one of the best instructors in the field that I am enrolled in. I had to leave school for 2 months and was welcomed back upon my return.

Her background combination of child psychology and Early Childhood Education provides us a good foundation for a holistic approach to managing an Early Childhood Education career. Our labs and activities encourage the use of recycled materials. Not only do they help us prepare for our careers, we also help the environment on the side! Our Early Childhood Education classes extends beyond the 4 walls of the building. Trips to daycare, experiencing nature, consulting the library, etc...are all experiences we can share with our future students.

My background was originally in sales and management. I became interested in computers and realized there was a market in training people. I became a teacher in the mid-eighties -- computer apps/business and have been doing this for approximately 28 years. My background includes discipline from BCIT and a MBA. Computers were a natural product to sell and teach to the public. It was very challenging back in the first days of the PC. I think being at the right place with the right product and the right time made all the difference. Computers and business are perfect together as we know now. Internet, gaming and other computer programs spawned from those days. I inspire my students by showing my own enthusiasm everyday, which is not always easy to do. I get students motivated by including them in day-to-day examples of real-life experiences. Training them to understand is paramount. Everyday offers new meaning and pride, regardless of how many years I have taught. If I can change one student for the better, then I have earned my station as an educator, no matter what level.

My educational background is various as my interests, with time spent in the hard sciences, as well as in Pacific Rim Business studies, where I studied Asian languages and culture as well as commerce. Eventually I settled on English Literature and did a BA in that, followed by an MA in English Language Teaching. I have been teaching on training in one subject area or another for about 15 years. I was always around teachers of all levels because my parents taught at elementary, secondary and university levels at various times in their careers. I started helping my mother with some of her students and realized how much I enjoyed it. Eventually, I combined my love of languages with teaching by teaching ESL and TESL. I inspire my students (TESL students) by always letting them know I have confidence in them and their ability to achieve their educational and career goals. I let them know that I am always available to them whenever they need help and any temporary failure is met with the assistance they need to succeed. Teaching at Vancouver Career College involves a large component of mentoring. I work with my students by showing them the way to succeed, opening new avenues for them and new ways to approach their goals during students time n the TESL program and long afterwards.

I began my journey in 2000 as a care aide working at a psychiatric facility for 7 years. I then graduated as an Licensed Practical Nurse in 2005 and have worked in residential care, public health and was a supervisor for home support for 2 years. As a home support supervisor I had the opportunity to teach my community health workers. I realized that I really enjoyed teaching. This is where my passion for teaching began. Also, in Public Health, I taught families and children regarding health promotion. I encourage my students by giving them the ability to believe in themselves. I always inspire them to be the best they can be and remind them that this is their time to shine. I am very interactive in class and have the students share experiences and stories related to current topics. I love my job. I am so proud when my students are employed and happy. It truly makes my heart smile.
